The future king has stated that "transformation is a key goal – positive change."
During a remarkably candid conversation, William explained his vision for the crown.
"My intention is to scrutinize traditions," he shared with his interviewer in a royal setting.
He expressed: "My goal is to build a society in which my son is proud of what we do, a world and a job which genuinely improves lives."
His eldest son, Prince George, recently marking his twelfth year, will one day succeed him as king.
His other son, Prince Louis, is seven and his daughter, Princess Charlotte, is 10.
He mentioned his offspring are without smartphones. And he appeared to suggest his aim to prevent a recurrence of experiences he and his brother experienced during childhood – potentially alluding to media intrusion that troubled Diana too.
"Reporters craved any information available, they infiltrated every aspect of life," the prince described the voracious media during his formative years.
"If such interference is permitted, the damage it can do to your family life is something that I vowed would never happen to my family," he affirmed.
Regarding his change agenda, he articulated: "I accept and appreciate evolution – I don't fear it. That aspect energizes me, the opportunity to introduce improvements."
He elaborated: "Not extreme transformation, but changes that I think that need to happen."
He added: "I think it's very important that tradition stays, convention contributes substantially. However, there are moments when examining customs and question: 'Does this remain relevant?"
"Is that still the right thing to do? Are we still doing and having the most impact we could be having?'"
Upon being questioned if he thought about being king, the prince responded: "I don't begin each day dwelling on it, because to me, being authentic and being myself guides my conduct."
"And then you can attach whatever labels and kind of roles that are associated with the role, yet without self-honesty, and I'm not true to what I stand for and believe in – then it doesn't really matter who you are," the prince asserted.
"I take my roles and my responsibilities seriously yet as mentioned previously, you don't feel they own you – you have to own them," William finished.
