Nearly 55,000 families have so far been affected by the weather, with their possessions and temporary homes damaged.

Heavy rains over the recent period have worsened the extremely difficult living conditions of the hundreds of thousands of evacuated civilians in the region, according to relief groups.

"Awful" Conditions Creates Severe Threats

A official described the recent storm as "awful", with downpours so heavy that as much as 15cm (6in) of water accumulated on the ground.

"Last night was exceptionally terrible for the people. The storms were so strong... And the winds were so forceful," stated the official.

Authorities voice grave concern that children sheltering in makeshift shelters in soaked garments will contract hypothermia and additional sicknesses.

Casualties and Widespread Damage

Health authorities have confirmed that one baby has succumbed from hypothermia and a minimum of 11 other people have lost their lives in structural failures triggered by the storms.

Other reports suggest a higher fatality count. Spokespeople reported that multiple structures had fully given way and scores had sustained partial collapse.

  • Nearly 55,000 families impacted by rains.
  • More than 40 emergency safe spaces severely flooded.
  • Many people required to find new shelter.

Relief Distribution Considered Inadequate

Organizations have escalated deliveries of tarpaulins, warm covers and clothing after the halt in hostilities started, but they stress there is still not enough aid entering.

"Agencies are working relentlessly to deliver that relief and to allocate it, but the size of the needs is so enormous that we are faced with a great number of people and minors who are really suffering every night," warned one official.

Long-Term Challenges and Agreement Terms

The next stage of the agreement involves proposals for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with political arrangements, the removal of troops, and other terms.

Aid bodies have stressed the necessity for "expanded and ongoing humanitarian assistance to respond to immediate and ongoing requirements."

The hostilities was triggered by an assault in the autumn of 2023. Subsequent military operations have resulted in a high number of casualties in the area, according to official figures.
