The visionary game developer, who helped create the immensely successful franchise Call of Duty, has died in a traffic collision in the state of California at the age of 55.

His passing was verified by Electronic Arts, the parent company of Respawn Entertainment, the development studio he co-founded.

The influential game designer lost his life when his car crashed and was engulfed in flames on a motorway in LA on this past Sunday, according to.

"This represents a heartbreaking loss, and our hearts are with Vince's loved ones, those closest to him, and all those touched by his creative vision," an official with Electronic Arts said.
